One of the most popular high school graduation day accessories is the honor cord. This colorful emblem of distinction is symbolic of the graduate’s outstanding performance and dedication, within a specific discipline or organization.

The SJC Servant-Leadership Honor Cord underscores our belief that every Christian has been given a clear mandate to live out their faith and to demonstrate a special concern for the needs of others.  Indeed, service is an integral part of what it means to be a Follower of Christ.  Jesus is our best example of servant-leadership. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45 NLT). Scripture teaches, The greatest among you must be a servant (Matthew 23:11).

All CHOSEN Youth Ministry students have an opportunity to put their faith into action as servant leaders.   Students are encouraged to integrate service into their lives, to be aware of the world around them, and to make service a lifelong commitment.  The SJC Servant-Leadership Honor Cord is designed to celebrate senior class members who serve in ministry teams, outreach, missions, social awareness, and social advocacy.  The SJC Servant-Leadership Honor Cords are blue, gold, and white.  The blue and gold color represents our church community.  While, the white symbolizes the spiritual purity of service to others.

To earn the SJC Servant-Leadership Honor Cord, high school seniors must log at least 100 verifiable hours of volunteer service between August and March of graduation year.  Honor cords will be presented each spring to recipients during our annual high school baccalaureate service.

An electronic record must be created for ALL volunteer hours.  Students will access the “Track It Forward” portal at https://www.trackitforward.com/site/st-john-church-unleashed.

REGISTERING & TRACKING: (1) Go to Track it Forward link. (2) Select Event Sign-ups; (3) Select a volunteer activity/sign-up; and (4) Confirm volunteer hours have been approved once completed.
